The Vivendi Youth Trophy
In partnership with golf through the Vivendi Seve Trophy, and The Vivendi Financial Times Golf Invitational, Vivendi has teamed up with the Fondation du Sport (APFS) and the Association pour le Développement du Golf Educatif (ADGE) to launch the Vivendi Youth Trophy, whose goal is to promote golf and to use its educational and social values to benefit young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods who are typically unlikely to get involved in this sport.
Golf often suffers from an image as a socially and financially elitist sport. This project aims to show that golf can be played by anyone, and can be a powerful educational tool and extraordinary opportunity for different social classes to interact. More than a mere sporting program, this initiative makes it possible to pass on to younger generations certain habits and values that are sometimes neglected, including respect for the environment and for others, concentration, humility, fair play, motivation and personal growth.
On June 5 at the Interdepartmental Sports Complex in Choisy-le-Roi (France), over 80 young people spent a day training, practicing and competing. Guests received introductory lessons in Golf Educatif (a fun program that presents a different idea of golf) from the young people themselves in a relaxed atmosphere. It was a great day for both youth and guests!
